Workshop Bettina Neuhaus 26 & 27 mei 2018

Studio Seven, Amsterdam
May, Sat 26 – Su 27, 2018
10h00 – 16h00

When we listen to the relationship of our bodily world with the ground, with the space around us, and with other dancers, we enter a playful dialogue that leads us beyond the familiar.

We enter into new and unforeseen possibilities, fostering the performative potential of the intuitive and poetic body in motion. As we engage in the ongoing interplay between inner and outer awareness, we find compelling simplicity and significance in our dancing and composing. Each day starts with a Skinner Releasing (SRT) Class where we explore and integrate specific releasing principles. Combining these with awareness of time, space and other compositional aspects forms the guideline for improvisational work in the afternoon.

Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) is an integrative dance practice that is unique in the way it enhances technical growth and creative process. It uses guided poetic imagery and hands- on partner studies to facilitate deep kinaesthetic experience of movement and a sense of wholeness. SRT stimulates the  process of letting go of one’s tensions and holding patterns, and through that, releases new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance. We experience dynamic and multi-directional alignment and gain more freedom, strength and effortlessness in movement.
The workshop is open to advanced movers, professional dancers, teachers, somatic practitioners and anybody else with an interest in movement and dance. Some previous experience in SRT is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
